Question: Is there an unforgivable sin?

One eternal or unforgivable sin (blasphemy against the Holy Spirit), also known as the sin unto death, is specified in several passages of the Synoptic Gospels, including Mark 3:28–29, Matthew 12:31–32, and Luke 12:10, as well as other New Testament passages including Hebrews 6:4-6, Hebrews 10:26-31, and 1 John 5:16.

Is saying OMG taking the Lords name in vain?

If you say something like Oh my God, then youre using His name in vain, but if youre saying something like OMG its not really using the Lords name in vain because youre not saying Oh my God. Its more like Wow. Words like gosh and golly, both dating back to the 1700s, served as euphemisms for God.

Why is using Gods name in vain bad?

Leviticus 24 says that a person caught taking Gods name in vain was to be stoned. It was a capital offense. God wants us to know that His name is important. When you misuse or disrespect Gods name, you are offending the creator of the universe.
