How does the app loop work?
Loop is a flavor of automated insulin delivery that is open-source and do-it-yourself (DIY). The Loop app takes the CGM values, runs them through an algorithm, and automatically adjusts basal insulin delivery on the pump. Loop aims to minimize low and high blood sugars and target a customizable glucose value or range.
What is omnipod looping?
Loop predicts your future blood glucose over the next six hours based on those settings, meals, and any insulin on board. Using the prediction, Loop automates insulin delivery using temporary basal rates to help reach your target blood glucose.
Is tidepool FDA approved?
Tidepool Loop is designed to work with diabetes devices that have been cleared by FDA as interoperable — officially termed as “integrated CGMs” (iCGM) and “alternate controller enabled” (ACE) pumps.
Which omnipod works with loop?
Omnipod HORIZON™ Automated Glucose Control System Insulet is working on the Omnipod HORIZON™ System to commercialize a hybrid closed loop system. The intended design of the system is to utilize estimated glucose values from a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) to predict future blood glucose and adjust insulin delivery.

Whats the difference between omnipod and omnipod dash?
The Omnipod DASH System Pods have a blue needle cap and updated Pod label for differentiation. In addition, the current Omnipod System PDM will not be compatible with the Omnipod DASH System Pods. The Omnipod DASH System Pod will be able to hold up to 200 units of U-100 insulin, same as the current Omnipod System Pod.
Is omnipod Closed Loop?
The upcoming Omnipod 5 system, currently under review by the FDA, includes a waterproof, closed-loop insulin pump that attaches to the skin of a persons back and communicates directly with a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor, while a smartphone app can be used to deliver boluses when needed.
