Do you get days off as a pilot?
We average 11-14 days off per month and most pilots will fly several weekends and most holidays unless you are senior. This usually means four 4-day trips (for me) with 2-4 days off between trips. Some senior pilots can get weekends off and choose to only fly 60-70 hours with 16-17 days off.
How many day offs do pilots get?
Again, seniority is king. Junior pilots can expect to have a minimum of 12 days off, whereas senior pilots can enjoy as many as 20 days off. 15 days is approximately the average. There isnt necessarily a set amount of days off a pilot takes a week, but it usually amounts to 2-3 days off weekly.
What do pilots do on their days off?
Answer: Many times there is only time to sleep and eat before leaving the next day. If there is a long layover, pilots will often run or walk to get some exercise. Some pilots work for companies that allow them to be home most nights. Other operations can keep pilots flying around the world for weeks at a time.
Do airline pilots have free time?
Being an airline pilot means you have opportunities to go to places youve never been! With free time between flights, pilots have the chance to explore new cities and spend time experiencing different cultures. No two work days will be the same, and that may be one of the best parts.
Where can pilots have tattoos?
Generally, airlines do not any visible tattoos but may allow tattoos hidden by clothing. Smaller aviation companies are more lenient on their tattoo policy and if you fly utlity aircraft then tattoos are very rarely a problem.

Do pilots pay for their own hotels? The airline handles and pays for accommodations for crewmembers when they are on a trip. Generally, if pilots need to travel and stay away from home when they are not on a trip, they are responsible for their own accommodations.
